Kitchen Installations in Essex

A new kitchen is often more than new units. We fit kitchens across Essex and take care of the building work around them, from removing a wall to replastering and laying the floor.

What we do

A Builder Who Fits Kitchens

Kitchen fitters fit units. A builder can change the room. Because we do the structural and building work ourselves, we can open the kitchen into the dining room, move a doorway, or build the extension your new kitchen goes into, all as one project.

Your Kitchen, Your Choice of Supplier

We are happy to fit a kitchen you have bought from the supplier of your choice, or help you source one through our local suppliers.

Planning your kitchen

Choosing a Kitchen Layout

Galley kitchens

Units on one or both sides of a narrow room. Common in terraced houses and flats, and efficient to work in.

L-shaped and U-shaped kitchens

Units along two or three walls, giving plenty of worktop and storage and leaving space for a table in larger rooms.

Kitchens with an island

An island adds worktop, storage and seating, and works best in a larger room or an open-plan extension with space to move around it.

Open-plan kitchen-diners

Taking out a wall between the kitchen and dining room creates one sociable space. It usually involves a steel beam and building control approval, which we arrange.

Before you buy

Things to Decide Before You Order a Kitchen

  • Where the sink, hob and fridge will go, as moving them affects plumbing, gas and electrics
  • Whether you want an extractor that vents outside, which may mean a new opening in the wall
  • Which appliances are built in, and their exact sizes
  • Worktop material, as stone and quartz are templated after the units are fitted
  • Flooring that runs under the units or stops at the plinths
  • Lighting: ceiling spots, under-cupboard lights and pendants over an island

Settling these early avoids changes once work is underway. We're happy to look over a kitchen design before you order it and point out anything that will affect the building work.

During the work

Living Without a Kitchen

Being without a kitchen is the hardest part for most people. We plan the work so the old kitchen comes out as late as possible and the new one goes in without delays, and we'll agree a timetable with you before we start.

Many customers set up a temporary area elsewhere in the house with a kettle, microwave and fridge. Where we can, we keep a sink or water supply working for as long as possible.

Pricing

What Affects the Cost of Fitting a Kitchen?

The size of the kitchen, the number of units and the type of worktop all affect the fitting cost. Moving the sink, hob or appliances means new plumbing, gas or electrics, and structural work such as removing a wall adds more.

Making good the room also counts: replastering, new flooring, tiling and decorating. Your quote lists each part separately, whether we supply the kitchen or fit one you've bought.
